Use of cookies

Technically, a cookie is a small, text-based file and they are used frequently on web sites and portals. They can be stored on your hard drive (persistent cookie) or in your computer's memory (session cookie).

We use session cookies to interact with your browser. They can have several applications when it comes to "communicating" between your computer’s browser and our web server. A web server is the CVCV computer that "serves up" web pages when you request them.

The purpose of cookies is to provide a seamless and secure experience. When logging in, your user name and password authenticates the session, but it’s the cookie placed in your browser at this point that simply ensures the single "communication" channel established is always between the browser you’re currently using (and only yours), and our web server for the duration of your visit.

When you end the session by logging off or closing the browser, the cookie is rendered inoperable. That's why it’s called a session cookie. It is not used in this instance to collect personally identifiable information about you.

Either CVCV or a third party approved by CVCV, may collect data from our site through the use of persistent cookies. These cookies identify you by a randomly generated number. They do not capture information that can personally identify you.

The information collected may take the very broad form of where visitors connect from, what version of browser they use and their path through the site. It helps us to provide personalised features and to meet your online expectations, as well as keep our content fresh and relevant.

The use of cookies however, is ultimately governed by you, as you can choose if and how a cookie can operate by configuring certain preferences and options in your browser. They need to be enabled if you wish to use the secure log in services here. Choosing to disable cookies will return you to the log in page.
